About the Rutgers-Newark SBDC

Introduction:

The Rutgers Small Business Development Center's (RNSBDC) main office is located at 43 Bleeker Street in Newark, New Jersey. A second satelite office is located at Gibbs College, Education Department, Room 1067, 630 West Mt. Pleasant Avenue, Livingston, NJ.

As one of 11 SDBC in the state of New Jersey, the RNSBDC provide its services to entrepreneurs and small businesses who wish to establish their businesses in Essex County. Rutgers-Newark SBDC provides its services to all entrepreneurs, start-up and existing small businesses who wish to grow, expand or establish their businesses in Essex County. Each year the RNSBDC serves about 600 start-up and established business with confidential technical assistance such as one-on-one counseling, mentoring and management consulting. In addition 1200 business people receive affordable business training in the form of information seminars and hands-on skills development workshops.

The Rutgers-Newark SBDC is an affiliate of the New Jersey Small Business Development Centers (NJSBDC), a non-profit 501 (C) (3) organization and network which is also a national partnership between the state and federal governments, the private sector, colleges and universities. As an affiliate of the NJSBDC, the network is designed to provide the highest quality business assistance services with the objective of increasing employment and stimulating business revenues that contribute to the state and federal treasuries.

Mission:

The mission of the Rutgers-Newark Small Business Develompment Center is to to help entreprenuers and business owners start and grow sustainable, successful small business through the delivery of appropirate training and technical assistance services and programs.

  • Acquire the necessary business skills that will enable them to become self-sufficient entrepreneurs and competent business managers;
  • Establish sustainable and successful businesses that will enhance their economic quality of life as well as their communities.
